If you analyse the traits of successful independent business people, you will find some traits that are common to all. One of these traits - and one of the most important - is that successful people consistently take the initiative.
Think about it. Merely getting started on a quest to become independent requires great initiative. The more effort these individuals give and the more initiative they take, the more successful they usually become.
Initiative - or the lack of it - is a characteristic that strongly affects one's future. In many areas of life, people are hesitant and tend to hold back. They're content to let someone else go first. And so their future is a lot different from the person who's willing to get moving without a lot of outside encouragement. The person who can move himself is the one who gets there first.
One factor that can hold people back is lack of preparation. This is why we always recommend that before you present Amway products to others, use them yourself. First of all, your personal experience with a product - as well as your personal service - gives you an advantage over the local retail store. Furthermore, you'll quickly find that your added expertise will result in added confidence in your presentation.
Good presentation also applies to presenting the Amway Sales & Marketing Plan. To prepare yourself, you first might observe your leaders as they present the Plan. Then, perhaps, you follow up by practicing with other Distributors, and then you begin presenting the Plan yourself. Then more you do it, the more confident you'll be in your ability to talk about the Plan to anybody, anywhere, anytime.
What you'll soon find is that through good preparation, your initiative builds upon itself. If you have the initiative to use and learn about your products... if you have the initiative to practise your presentation of the Plan... you'll most certainly gain self-confidence. And with that added confidence, you can take a greater degree of initiative in meeting with prospective customers and Distributors.
In fact, you not only can - you will.
